Travelling overnight on a Greyhound bus can be quite an intimidating experience there are weird and wonderful people who travel from Chicago at night. Take the guy who sat the whole way to Rapid City, South Dakota clutching a small case like his life depended upon it. Even back then we were concerned that it might be a bomb. Then there was Scott Scott we were fascinated by his name, if you are out there Scott get in touch. There was the guy who insisted on stretching his legs out across the aisle to the dismay of the driver who continually asked him to move them and eventually threatened to put him off the bus.
It’s amazing how we can remember these people and incidents after 34 years. Like Bonnie in Butte Montana who preached about Jesus to us for over an hour while we were waiting for our bus. She was very annoying and I was not nice to her but she was the first person to share the gospel with us since we were kids. Her presentation wasn’t the best and the timing could have been better but she was the first of many God used over the next year to draw us into a relationship with Him.
You never know what impact your life and words are having on people, we are not called to save people, we are called to be witnesses, to tell our stories. Don’t underestimate the power of God’s word in your mouth. It will not return without accomplishing what He has planned for it.
Bonnie doesn’t know about the people we have been able to influence over the past 34 years because God used her words to begin to convict us and convince us that we needed Him to be in charge of our lives. We will be forever grateful.
Thank you Bonnie and thank you Lord.
