You cannot guarantee safety by staying where you are so you may as well take a risk what is the worst that can happen?
The fish and chip shop was a great success for the one year we ran it and then with the proceeds we took our first trip out of the country we came to the States for 3 months. We booked a return flight arriving in New York and returning from Los Angeles with a 3 week Greyhound bus pass, a two-man tent, back packs and $375 each. Our plan was to camp for a day or so on Long Island but our plane was delayed and we arrived in New York at 11pm. Have you ever arrived in New York at night with a tent?
A young couple traveling on the same plane offered to share a cab with us to a hotel in downtown Manhattan, as you can imagine for the money we had available (campground money) it wasn’t the nicest of places. I didn’t sleep a wink it was 95 degrees, rainy and humid with no air conditioning and the honking of horns from the incessant traffic all night long. I was so nervous about being in New York and knowing no one that I insisted we leave the city the next morning so we headed for the bus station and caught a bus to Niagara Falls.
We later regretted not having looked around such a great city but fortunately God had a plan to get us back there at a later date. He seems to make a habit of that where we are concerned.
Looking back you can see God’s hand on your life way before you acknowledge Him as the boss of your life.
