Recognizing God given opportunities.

So I have been praying and asking God to give me

opportunities to speak to people about Jesus but who knows that He always seems to answer our prayers when it’s least convenient for us.

The morning after the prayer meeting when I prayed this prayer out loud in front everyone including Kevin, we were in a bookstore taking a well earned break from everything. We were so tired, we agreed to just switch off for a while and Kevin was watching soccer on his laptop and I was reading a craft magazine “aaaahhhhh quiet’. I was really enjoying the moment when a lady came and sat near to me, opened her book and started to talk to herself out loud, I made the mistake of looking at her just as she looked my way and caught my eye then she began to tell me about her life. I politely nodded and gave her one word answers while trying to get back to reading my magazine. I wish I could tell you that I engaged her in conversation and spoke to her about Jesus but I didn’t. In fact it wasn’t until we left the store and Kevin reminded me of my prayer the night before that I even realized that this was a God given opportunity.

The opportunities that God gives us to be an influence in people’s lives are often ordinary and seemingly mundane. There are not angels and flashes of lightening coming from heaven. So my prayer is now Lord help me to recognize the opportunities you give me and give me boldness to speak about You and how You have changed my life. Thank God, He forgives us and gives us another chance and I pray that the lady in the bookstore has another chance too.
