Have we become spectators of life instead of participators. I notice that I love to read craft magazines but rarely have the time to use the information to make anything. Thousands of people watch the Biggest Loser but lose no weight or watch the Food Network but eat out everyday.
Perhaps that is how we are with our Christian life too, we read books about Christians who do great things for God or we read about the lives of people in the bible and we live vicariously through them, we just don’t have the time for all that.
I have decided to quit being a spectator and to metaphorically get in the game. I have decided to make friends of strangers in the places I frequent. I have decided to listen to God’s voice and obey when He tells me to give money to someone I meet (not just the homeless) I have decided to expect God to lead me in my everyday life and to give me words of encouragement and wisdom for people. People need to know we care about them and then that Jesus cares for them.
I encourage you to come down from the bleachers and get in the game.
