Blessings of the Season
The cooler weather is coming, the nights are beginning to draw in and soon we will turn our clocks back. Every year I struggle to work out whether I lose an hours sleep or gain an hour, it’s gain an hour, isn’t it?It’s the time of year for getting together with my friends at the local coffee shop to knit and drink hot cocoa.Although I really dislike the cold weather I do like some things about winter like shepherds pie and casseroles. I love Chistmas decorations and getting together with friends and family for the holidays. I like snow for a day if I don’t have to travel anywhere and it’s so nice to have the fire burning in the fireplace. With a daughter in Wyoming and a son in Milwaukee and my other son in here in St. Louis it will be nice to see them again during the next two months to catch up on what’s been going on in their lives. It’s always a fun time with lots of laughs and reminiscing. So I suppose I can put up with the cold weather and enjoy all the blessings of the season. -
St Martin
It was great to have the opportunity again to visit St Maarten for a vacation this summer. Wonderful scenery, beautiful beaches and perfect temperature helped us to wind down and take a well earned rest from the business of church planting.
I decided to overcome one of my fears by taking a 2 hour boat trip with Kev. I have always stayed on dry ground while Kev and the kids have taken boat trips, but on this vacation I decided to go for it. The day trip was to a deserted island where he and many of the other passengers snorkeled while myself and a few of the not so adventurous were ferried ashore by motorized dingy.
After the snorkeling we had lunch prepared for us at an open air restaurant and then we sunbathed and swam until it was time to head back. I was so glad I didn’t give in to fear again and stay back at the resort, as this was the highlight of the trip for me.
The next day Kev drove me around the island so that I could take some “arty” photo’s as he calls them. So here are a few of them – -
Doors, Windows and Balconies
